Long time lurker first time poster lol.
I’m surpised theres not more photos from round these parts, its a bit of a wasteland after all!!
This is an old mill i went to a few weeks ago, looks like kids have been going in and having a rake about inside.
Photos not the best am not a photographer and the part with the abandoned machines is pitch black. Theres lots of machinery left and its a good waste of an hour or three, but you’d never guess from the outside. It just looks like a big old shed.
I heard it has an interesting story so i asked around. It was a big employer in the area 20 or 30 years ago and somebody’s bound to remember their auntie working there. The woman in the library said, I will try and find out some information about it for you. And guess what. Nothing!!
Enjoy!

A very good post for your first one. But Lanark is the heart of the woolen industry, namely Robert Owen and the cloth. I can only assume that this is a textile mill.

I liked this, have not done a mill of this type yet & this looks to have a fair bit to offer still. Thanks for sharing

Ta, glad you like my attempt!! The mill was textiles yes but dont know if it was woollens? Theres not a lot of cloth but @HughJorgan you might be able to tell a bit more about it looking at the machines? They're made by Schweiter. Will look for more photos to put up.

I like that mate.maybe when I am next in Scotland I will try find it as it's my sort of place

They're made by Schweiter. .

Well known Swiss firm manufacturing weaving machinery. Looks like the firm was weaving low end cloth such as duffle coating - using cotton warp and woollen weft. Mind you, I am basing this on the similarity to the machinery in my wife's family's Castleford Mill in Leeds. If one knows the name of the firm, a web search will tell what they wove.

No actually your wrong bud was not low end what they made is known as well as some history. Suspect Once the location gets out then it will either get stripped or wrecked, probably both .No doubt Steve will get badgered for the location, or information to track the place down!

Nice work Killie steve trying to light that place take a lot off effort, was was a complete bugger . Could not believe how Dark it was in there, didn't get a decent shot first time myself.

Ah! Got the wrong Mill, both were equipped with the same make of machinery and one East Light Roofed Weaving Shed can look much the same as another. The photographs in my book of reference, a Trade Association Year Book, are not that clear. Thanks for the info.
