This small selection of shots were taken over several visits between April and July 2015, while the famous paper makers were in receivership. The mill that started life on the banks of the Leven as Rothes Mill in 1804 and acquired by R Tullis & Co in 1836, was the first paper mill to be built in Fife. Over the course of its 200+ years of production it had grown to become one of the areas largest single employers.
Trading ceased on April 27th 2015 following several years of dwindling orders, increasing production costs, consecutive losses amounting to approximately £18.5m and the insolvency of one of their most profitable clients.
While the administrators got to work going through the company's assets, so we decided it would be a fine time to have a snoop round. Visited with the three stooges.
