Location
Lincoln
This is my first post/report and I thought I'd share this location first. Built in the 1950s this was the last expansion of the old Ruston Engine works within Lincoln, which used to span most of the city in the south. Couldn't find too much about it online (admittedly didn't try to hard to look), but did speak for a guy who works further down from the location and he said that this building as well as all the original buildings built ca.1900s will soon be torn down.

The buildings were both massive and fun to explore, walking up the 40 ton crane was a bit scary though! But it was worth it. Also the all the buildings had already been gutted of machines apart from the giant crane, which still has all the dials and controls in place.

Nice set Conner; pity you could not have seen the place in the early 60's, the place really hummed! The remaining overhead crane is typical of the clear out procedures used on this type of plant - Use the existing overhead cranage to remove all the machines and scrap and then leave the overhead system to the demolition company that finally clears the site. The scrap value of the overhead system does not meet the hire costs of portable cranes to get the system out as 'machinery scrap'. My familie's demolition company has had the same problem many times over the years; the bottom line in all these transactions is profitability and this is not always that apparent when aspects of H&S and dangerous substances are taken into account.

Very good for your first post Connor. Your photos are imaginative such as taking a shot of the crane hook at an angle.

At first I thought this was the place I went earlier this year. Turns out I was wrong.
Anyway, brilliant shots and good report.
