Default Water Treatment Plant, Trumpington, November 2018

    Intro
Located just outside of Cambridge locates this, now derelict, water treatment plant. Although mostly outside, the site is rather photogenic. This also allowed me to play around with a new lens and take advantage of the daylight.
    The Explore
Annoyingly the plant is located next to a sports field and because it was a weekend a football game was happening.
So, after sneaking past that we got inside uninterrupted. After that it was wandering about and snapping a few shots.

Thanks, It's not a common type of place to find.

This is all that is left of the former Bayer Agrochemicals site in Hauxton, which was located where the new housing estate is springing up across the road. The waste water treatment plant was used in the decontamination of the main Bayer site before it was demolished around 2012 and they left the waste water plant abandoned for some reason.

Bayer also owned the adjacent sports pitches and just outside the main gate of the water treatment plant there is a large non-descript building there which housed their old squash courts that is also abandoned.

Thanks a lot for this info, I was going to include the photos from the squash court but I didn't in the end.
By the looks of the site the plant is being prepared for demolition as the laboratory building has now been stripped since I last went as well as the control room.

About us
DerelictPlaces is a forum for people with an interest in the history and documentation of disused, derelict and abandoned buildings to come together and share their experiences, photography and historical findings. Our military, industrial and historical heritage is fast disappearing under the pressure of regeneration, the need for new housing, and often through simple neglect; Our aim is to document these places before they disappear entirely.
