I do like a nice mill, and this is a little cracker even if it's a tad empty. If I'm honest I'm surprised it hasn't been covered more often as it's a great building and largely undamaged apart from the broken windows.

There isn't a huge amount out there about this place, it was built in 1885 for yarn spinners Wright & Jobson and at some point after it closed the ground floor area was taken over by a car garage specialising in Alfas, there is box after box of ruined old Alfa parts littering part of the ground floor space.

Thanks for looking :)

You've done it again Mook, pissed off the local pigeon population, great find, I enjoyed it, Thanks

Another piece of history recorded and photographed. At one time in Gala (that's the name the locals call Galashiels) that factory would have been the main industry for employment so someone would leave school and start a job there.

I used to sometimes deliver to and pick up goods at various small weaving and knitting factories in the borders region. My age makes me forget their names but that does look familiar. As has been said they were handy places of employment for locals and were pleasant places to visit - and be chatted up by the women!
Were there any signs of trade catalogues inside? The majority of stuff I handled was knitwear because big jazzy thick jumpers became a 'thing' back in the 80s and 90s.
Sad to see the industries go but hopefully that lovely building can be saved.
