    Default Bowmans flour mill..Yorkshire

I had seen this pop up a couple of times, so whilst me and janovitch and man gone wrong were in the area, we gave it a look. The mill has been around since 1870, the bowman family started milling there in 1940. the original watermill was demolished in 1969 and a new mill was built. The mill closed down in 1916 as the company seceded to cease milling operations, the company continues though as an ingredients manufacturing business. You can see extensive damage in the mill were contractors have smashed walls in too move machinery about. But it was a nice place to visit with some nice bits left.

There was some quite nice labs in there.

Nice write up and a good selection of photos. Still a lot of machinery left abandoned.

    That's a fascinating building.
I'm more used to seeing the concrete type mills with internal silos but this is very different. It appears to be a real rabbit warren of passages and doorways.
Surprised to see cable still in place and did I spy an auction number on something?
I think there'll be more to the site too - the heavier electrical switching for example.
    Nice one that.
    Full of meaty goodness.

About us
DerelictPlaces is a forum for people with an interest in the history and documentation of disused, derelict and abandoned buildings to come together and share their experiences, photography and historical findings. Our military, industrial and historical heritage is fast disappearing under the pressure of regeneration, the need for new housing, and often through simple neglect; Our aim is to document these places before they disappear entirely.
