Kinlet Colliery is located on the side of a steep valley that runs into the River Severn. I think it closed after the war. It's quite well preserved, mainly because its quite difficult to get to.
The first few shots are of what i think is the engine house. It's quite an impressive structure. There's a plaque on the front saying 'Kinlet Colliery 1896'
It looks like it's leaning in the first shot!

In front of the engine house is a massive brick structure. The area in front of it is flat and i think it's where they used to load up the coal trucks

There are two shafts. Both look like they've been capped fairly recently. Coal Authority signs all over the place. You can see the vent in the middle.

Close to one of the shafts is what i think are the foundations for the winding gear.

A tramway runs up the valley. The shots below are of a collapsed tramway bridge.

The whole area is really interesting. There are three other mones and a couple of old ironworks nearby.
The area was really badly hit by flash flooding in the summer. You can still see the damage: landslips, washed away footpaths, uprooted trees, debris and massive erosion of the valley floor. Must have been pretty scary
