Location
Derbyshire/Leicestershire area.
No idea what the name of this place is! I was shown this place by a friend that likes to BMX round there who knows I like Urban Exploration. I dont think I have seen this place on a site before, its pretty secluded and a place that you wouldnt find unless shown.

There is loads more places around this one area that we visited, including some VERY old house and a cottage, ill upload them pics too soon.

Used this place as a location for commissioned a few times, its a fantastic area for that.

A couple that I took there, No her face isnt really like that, but I thought it best to edit it out so I dont get her/myself into trouble. This is one of my friends that wanted me to help her build up a modeling portfolio, she knows I like doing a different style of portraiture and wanted some diversity to her portfolio. Just so you can see the location in a different light.

did you guys go down the ladder shaft under the electricity (or whatever it is) room? Just wondered what was down there.

To be honest, on the two occasions we've been there we've always run out of daylight, so probably missed some bits. Will have to have a look next time I'm over that way.

TnM :)

If the set up is similar to the Bridon, Doncaster works, then the shaft leads to various conduit tunnels/spaces. Part of the Doncaster production line was of a similar age to the Ambergate unit. I think the machinery on both sites, came from the same supplier, before Bridon was formed and took over everything.

You may find a large number of wire rope samples in the laboratory/offices. These will be approx 2" to 8" long, the strands will be contained by a copper, brass or plastic ring. Many were used as paper weights. Thinner slices of wire rope - approx 1" - potted in black or clear compound are microscopical specimens for the metallurgical laboratory. A very dear friend was the Bridon Group Chief Personnel Officer, and showed me round many of the UK installations over the years.

Great to see some more pics of this interesting site, Ng. The gothicky/tudor type building looks fantastic and your promo photos are excellent too. :)
