I was in the area mainly to check out an abandoned petrol station on the A38 however I decided to go take a gander at Willington Power Station's remains - the Cooling towers. The history has most likely been dealt with a dozen times already.
I'm not sure why but I felt very uncomfortable being there on my own, you never realise how big these hyperboloidal towers are unless your standing directly in front of one, for what are hollow thin walled inward curving towers you wonder how they stay up. I didn't get as many photos as I wanted due to this uneasy feeling I had. That said I really enjoyed this explore, and might plan a revisit at some point in the future.
Though I might need a working tripod, mines buggered!
