Hello all, you've all seen Pyestock before :)

So, fairly recently, myself, drypulse, cheese (not a member) and one of drypulse's friends went for a fairly short visit to Pyestock. We couldn't get into a lot of the buildings and mainly stayed in Cell 3. We went down Monk's Passage to the computer building but fairly quickly got spooked by security and left the site for the day.

I had wanted to go back and get more shots before I posted and very very recently went back on my own. The only access I could find was a long way from where I wanted to get to, so once in, I stomped the breadth of the site in the woodland for cover. Just as I was about to step out of the woods and make my way to the interior fence I spotted a black-uniformed chap on a bicycle by the interior fence about 2m from me! I ducked down into the ferns and hoped he didn't see me as he cycled past. Thankfully the 80s and 90s are over and I wasn't wearing a luminous shell-suit and he didn't spot me. I did get very spooked by this though and decided to make my way back to my access point.... I had a nice dinner to get home to and didn't want to get caught and miss it :p

The long and short of it is that I don't know when I will get another chance to get more shots, so here are the ones from earlier in 2k8.

I don't know how long Pyestock will be there. Security is tighter and they do seem to be slowly pulling stuff down :(

Thanks for the comments guys :)

Oh, and if anyone is planning on going there soon, take some insect repellent... The mosquitoes are out in force!

Brilliant pics

Mr Large, your pics of cell 3 are nothing short of spectacular..I would love to have shot these, when I saw cell 3 all I had was a compact and my pics are ok but after seeing yours,I am not so sure!Lets be satisfied that at least we got see this epic site.
regards
Stu

Wow, thanks Stu!

This lark is pretty hard with a compact. When we went to Witley I had my 400D and a Sony compact, and the shots from the compact were mostly hopeless!

As King Al said, never tire of seeing pics from explores of this place! ta for putting them up. need to go here while it's still there. it has to be one of the most photogenic places around, parts of it look a bit sci-fi film set-ish!

:) Cell 3 and other areas were used in the 2005 film Sahara http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0318649/ (pretty bad apparently) [ame]http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=6495361314846963469[/ame] and parts of Pyestock have been in Red Dwarf too.

don't make the same mistake i did in watching the whole film waiting for the pyestock bits, there are literally 2 hours of boredom for 1 minute of pyestock lol

Has anything else been filmed there.

One episode of Red Dwarf has a scene in what looks like a wind tunnel that seemed familiar.

Yeah, some Red Dwarf episodes had scenes filmed there but I don't know which :(
