myself goldie87 and mr sam paid a visit to busm again with 2 things to do get up the water tower and find the air raid shelter we managed one of them:) here are my pictures. quite a big place no idea how many people it held one nice find was the air filtration chart behind the door. dated 1939

just a bit of history for you during the war the big shelter was the main one for this side of leicester it had a crows nest for a look out you can see that on my picture below on the main building roof. they made sights for anti aircraft guns, 30mm shell casings and complete production of gear case for the RR merlin engines as used in spitfires and hurricanes.
i also now have the plans for the air raid shelters for the factory.

this was a find and a half after hearing hearing about the 'underground' parts on here a while back

ill sort through mine in a minute
 
Good to finally confirm that they do exist! There were a lot of newish looking fire exit signs and light fittings, however turned them on and evidently they had been there a while as only half worked properly. Shame its been cleared out and all the ventilation plant has gone, but still an excellent find!
