This HUGE mill was fantastic, it was probably the most empty place I have ever been but who cares? It's a mega mill :)
Some info for you

"" Hartford Mill was built in 1907 by FW Dixon and Son and had 120,000 Platt's spindles at it's peak in 1915 driven by a 1500hp Urmson engine.
It closed in 1959 and was used as a mail order warehouse until recently. It's due to be demolished as part of the Werneth area redevelopment plan ""

Loved it and spent a few hours looking round....mill heaven :)

Love the swirling mill vortex on this shot

Hahha I went in here the other week when I was waiting for Bungle to finish his dinner and took a grand total of one picture (since deleted).

Did you get into the engine room with the nice tiles, the access eluded me and it was the only bit I wanted to see. Looks like you enjoyed it more than me though, good stuff.

TnM :)

I really like the outside of the building, especially the tower. that looks awesome. Is there anyway up the tower? (i've probably not looked properly and you've done it lol). Like the main floors, looks great.

Very nice pics KE,

Cheers,

:) Sal

I went up the tower, there's a bloody big hole in the floor through which you can see daylight near the top, I didn't like it very much at all. :(

Sounds like you had a far more relaxed visit than I did earlier this year, When I went the grounds were full of scallys / chavs and I had the euneasy feeling my car was being stolen the entire time I was inside!

Looks interesting despite being stripped - I think I saw this from the train after I'd visited Fletchers a few weeks ago ... there are a few redbrick mills in the area, aren't there?

The local chavs offered to show me round LOL

As chavs go, they are a friendly bunch :)
