Hope you like these just from my perspective. There where a few scrapmen on this visit desperate to get the final remaining bits of copper etc the guy i spoke to was freindly enough as long as you let them get on with it, ive never encountered any trouble here with pikies etc and how long its going to remain in this state who knows.

Hi Dave, great pictures.

As a local lad I always love to see pics from Hartlepool on here.

I think it'll be a shame when the very familiar sight of that chimnet disapears from the skyline. I'd rather the place be left for nature to reclaim than it being ruined by architechuraly lacking, cardboard newbuilds.

Cheers Lacelotte yep i totally agree leave it the way it is.

its dead land, it needs to be used somehow, and if someone wants to build houses on it, why not?
its been soooo well documented, it would be nice to see it put to some use, even if it is an 'executive housing estate'
personally, i would far rather it be used for affordable housing, god knows we need it everywhere, specially in places like middlesborough, which must have taken a battering as far as employment was concerned when this place shut.

some nice pics dave, must have been a glorious day when you went down

I agree the site should be put to use, but not for housing, Its designated as industrial land and is probably quite heavily contaminated. given the nearby railway line it should be used for future industrial use, A new factory / chemical works or other plant. Housing on site is really not a wise call.

There are also plenty of vacant houses in Middlesbrough its not like their in short supply.

And it's right next to the sea.. give it 10 years and with global warming those new houses will be flooded :(
