Took the opportunity to visit here whilst in the area with work last month. Wasn't sure what to expect - they're bigger than they look from a distance (obviously I haven't mastered that thing called perspective yet lol).

I know they've been done to death but here's my take on it anyway!

Good report

Any idea what security is doing here?Do we assume this is the start of demolition..guess so.

It always surprises me that those struts at the bottom of cooling towers can hold the weight of all that's above, they just look too flimsy somehow!

Thanx

OK, one last time...
These are small, but the ones out there are far away

Like the second shot - a nice time of day :)

Always good to see as they are pretty local to me and everyone gets a different angle on the place,
good stuff:)

were these the ones used on the Itv post apocayltic drama 'the last train' remember there being a set of 6 on there, with loads of scraps of buildings between, was in the last episode.

would be a shame for them to go, SO MANY cooling towers have gone in teh last few years, real shame as they are a thing of beuty and take SO LONG to construct :(

It wouldn't have been Willington - Willington has always had no more than five towers though started out with just the two.
