Westport in County Mayo doesn't export grain like it once did, in fact the harbour and quayside sees very little trade of any sort these days. There was a small coaster tied up alongside a vast pile of bags containing stone, but the old warehouses further up have long been converted to apartments. All that remains now is the concrete bulk of the old grain store and even here many of the outside structures have been demolished.
Finding this was a surprise and my exploration of the remains was rather hurried. As I was on my own and without masks I did not venture too high up amongst the pigeons that filled the uper levels. Not too much left inside but what there was provided some interesting shapes and colours.
To the photos.
