after an epic solo fail here last week it was great to get back and have some success, like our contact said do the water tower first its the best bit......certainly is! if a bit blustery and open uptop, i swear some kid shouted 'daaaaaaaaad, theres someone up there' from one of the gardens :p

brief history...

construction started in 1901 and first malts produced late 1906 by 1958 new technologies had rendered the malthouses useless in the early 70's 3 of the houses were used to rear chickens (lots of evidence of this) that however was shut down in the early 90's due to new dwellings being built close by, 1999 saw the huge fire destroying 3 of the malthouses, not sure what the future holds

the tower was deffinetly the epi center of the explore a fair old climb up from the spiral stairs onto creaky wooden ones and finally onto a ladder which lead up through a tube through the center of the water tak (which still holds water)

was a bit gutted to find the walkways between buildings were bricked up, although that was probably a good idea looking at the state of them

visited with Goldie87 and Mattdonut, thankf for the driving mate :thumb

Thats a really nice building, great photos, thanks.

Rather than it being demolished, it would be good to see these put to some use, more than likely apartments, which it would suit quite well, not that I agree with it tho

twas a good day with great weather, looking forward to the next trip!!
here are a couple of mine

Top stuff fellas, there's some nice stuff in the Sleaford area, I wouldn't mind a mosey myself sometime soon :)

Thats a huge building! I really like the spiral staircase.

Here's a bit of background info if any one is interested

I remember comimg to Sleaford with my dad when I was 16 on the day of the fire and you could see the flames from miles away (not a hard thing from that side of Sleaford - dead flat) I guess the fire must have been pretty intense by the height of the flames.
