Went with Scotty, it was the 2nd of another really good day Urbex trip!

This mine dates back to 1874. Several buildings still remain.

"Phoenix Mine, Prince of Wales Shaft, (1907, Listed Grade II) has an outstanding engine house that was built for the last big pumping engine made in Cornwall (by Holman’s Foundry, Camborne). It is a distinctive landmark within the Area and is a monument to spectacular failure and misplaced optimism. The adjacent single-phase group of buildings includes the remains of the boiler house, compressor house, winding-engine house and mill."

These buildings have stood the test of time pretty well. Although not much left inside they are worth a look and the chimneys are cracking.

On with the pics:

Thats a gorgeous setting....the old buildings look lovely.........really hard to believe when you see those gentle looking structures that it was a serious industrial setting only a few (ok............ maybe a few more than just a few !) years ago:):)
Love Cornwall........a lovely mix of beautiful countryside and ex-industrial history all in one..........................:)

The building looks totally solid even after all that time. Its a really atmospheric location that, Cornwall is great:)

I wish they would preserve that old building I took you to - Langley barony. It could be a great industrial relic if restored.

Very atmospheric these shots. Moody and now silent. Great stuff. :)

one of the things that never came out on any of the pics is all the cows, sheep and horses walking around.
and the bull that drippled when it spotted scrub. :)

a coffie and cheese sandwich is a nice idea but i think the cows might come over and say hello and they are big bastard. even the one with horns.
