Crittall's Windows -Factory & Social Club -Braintree, Essex -1992

Here's a few snaps from some more photos re-discovered recently on an expedition up into me Loft

Crittall's Windows are still in business, and still based in Braintree.
Such a shame that not one bit of the old buildings was retained (all that's left are part of the wall & railings) :(

I believe the date on the front was 1934 (or there abouts)

The nearby Village of Silver End was pretty much built for the Workers from the Crittall's Factories, and most of the Village's building are Listed :)

thanks for posting this
they went into making UPVC profile for windows "cego" brand.
not sure if they still do or where they do now it was 7 years ago since i used that profile.

My family all hail from Braintree originaly and remember the buildings in town as a kid. My uncle also lived in Silver End and thier massive factory was at the end of his (and most of the villages) back garden.

I do remember a trip to a very nice underground air raid shelter on a bend opposite a farm (in sliver end), any clue's????

Blimey, I must have missed this one!
Excellent to see some more of your before and after pics from back along. Cheers for posting them, Lb. :)
Keep up the loft expeditions! They sound like explores in themselves!

Excellent work Lb. It looks like it was a lovely building, then demo'ed and rubbish probably put up in it's place. Such a shame lovely building like this are demolished. We're losing far too many of them nowadays. :(

Cheers mate, looking forward to seeing other pics of old explores, when you find them in your loft. lol.

Take care mate, hope everything is working out well for you? And life is good? :)

Cheers,

:) Sal
