I thought I get my first post up here, its from a month ago, but its a start.
It's 0530 in the morning, as we head out of Lincoln, stocked up with bacon sarnies and TomTom set for Ilkeston. The target for today, Stanton Pipe Foundry. There is one word for this place, filthy! Everywhere is covered with thick layer of dust. The main bay is full of casting pots and topped with two immense 170 ton cranes.
I looked up at the cranes with a view to getting up to them, but I'm not great with heights and bottle it at the foot of the final stair section.
We move into the pipe works themselves and find this guy hanging around.
Into the control room for the pipe drawing plant.
The pipe machine itself is an interesting construction with jaws and rollers everywhere.
All in all this is a really nice explore.
