Thanks for looking

Splendid stuff. Like the black and white bleak look. Keep meaning to check this place out but havent got the bottle to be honest. It used to have a railway link right up til the early nineties i believe and i have always wondered if there is any trace of that still hanging around.

Hello Chase Norwich here. That site is truly awsome. You must have had a field day in there.

Just wondering - how is the site generally in regards safety? Do you think the people who run the site (be they security or the actual owners) would be conducive to allowing filmwork done in the exteriors and/or interiors of the buildings?

This is the third time this site has been posted on here, including once by me! Not sure why people think it's new, or struggle to find where it is considering the information is already on here! lol.

It's been used by the police for major incident training before, I'm not sure about filming, bits of the site are still live. How close are you?

I live down in High Wycombe, so an hour or so away?

Reason I ask is I'm location scouting for our film, Operation Chastity (large-scale Halo fan-movie). I need a massive industrial complex to be a stand-in for the story's old abandoned "Las Armas" arms factory in Argentina. :\ finding suitable sites has been hard.

Yeah, there's no bloody industry left to film!

I don't know how amenable they would be, I suspect they would want liability insurance and some kind of payment. I don't even know who you might contact. The council would be a good starting point.

Much of the site is seriously asbestos ridden, cellophane being HIGHLY flammable so health and safety would be a nightmare.

Yeah, our production will be taking PLI. I mainly want to film in a place like that for the externals - internals can be done at a different location. I would imagine that if the Police are allowed to train there, we would be allowed to film. But then Councils are a funny sort.

Do you have any idea who might administer the site now? Is it an open site or is it locked down? You mentioned that some of the site was still live?

Have you looked at this thread?

I've looked at the sites listed. The problem is that sites that advertise as film locations will inevitably charge large amounts to film there. This is a microbudget production - next to no money for *anything*, let alone locations. And therein lies the trouble, because many of the locations we will require need to look fairly abandoned.

I am hopeful we will have luck securing RAF Twinwood Farm, though. Great little spot. :)

I remember that place stinking the M5 out when our family would go to Bristol airport for the beginning of a getaway to sunnier climbs....

thought it was dead, had not 'smelt' it for a few years.
