Hi all,

This is the second half of my South Lane report. The first being about the POW Camp, and this being about the AA Battery behind it.

I was amazed when I first saw it, it was totally unexpected, but its still there. Most of the buildings and Gun Placements are still in good condition, but the Bunkers are now full of water, but I did try to get my camera in for a few pics. The back half of the site is covered in Barbed Wire, and a farmer has converted the concrete buildings into stables for his Horse's. Anyway on with the pics.

Sorry about the number of pics, but I wanted to try and show everything, there is loads more pictures of the site. If you want to see them, PM me and I'll tell you how to get to them.

Hope you enjoy this report

I like that a lot mate. Have you got any idea of what sort of AK AK gun would have been used?

Cheers Tom,
Good to see such a wide range of surviving building types. :)
Black,
Going by the holdfast bolts I'd say 3.7 inch guns.

Hi Black,

I have no idea what size the guns were, I didnt even know it was there until I got there. I did find a tool, it looks like its from WW2 but Im not sure. Its got R32.5 Stamped on it.

My dad seems to think its a tool to remove used, hot shell casings from the Guns after they have been fired.

Can anyone confirm this???

Excellent find, Tom, and as the_historian said there's a good range of buildings left remaining. :)
I can't confirm the tool usage but I have seen film footage of firing and removal of casings after and it looks pretty much like it, imo. What an exciting find! That's brill!

Looks like a type of C spanner to me, for use on collar nuts/bolts.

Most shell extractors for larger bores are like a cross between a pry bar and tyre lever, well the ones i have seen were.

Great find Tom nice to see so many of the buildings still standing
