The north entrance was basicaly the northern entrance into the western heights, it was used upto the
1960's until the road was re-routed.

Been a few years since i was last in here so was good to have another look around.

Drawbridge, sadly looking a bit sorry for itsef now.

We also visited the Detached Bastion this was built to provide a powerful defensive position between the Citadel and North Entrance, been here many times but never get bored of the place.

Love it, looks quite a big place! From what i can gather there is quite a bit to explore in Dover, il have to get down there sometime soon!

This brings back a memory - when I was about 16 we use to go up here quite a lot. I had a mate who was a bit on the large side and, after a few "Jamaican woodbines" he got wedged trying to get round the side of that drawbridge while it was in the up position!

I've been thinking the same for a while now. Really will have to get myself into gear for a visit sometime.
Another excellent site, Monk. Love the spiral staircase. :)
