I live 5mins down the road from this site and since i drive past it almost every day i thought it be rude not to pop in and take alook. Kernow did this site back in jan 08 and not alot has changed.
Like any fort its very hard to get in to and very much stripped out in side but looked after.
Much of the site is over grown and bricked up. you can't get in to any of the tunnels or buildings. all door ways and windows are bricked up. the main tunnel system is welded shut by 2 different gates.
Ernesettle fort is classed as a Palmerston fort, Its 1 of 16 forts around plymouth city and dock yard. there is two rings of forts that defend plymouth, the inner ring that defends the dock yard and sea assult and the outter ring that defends from land assult.
there is more information on the forts here.
here is some of my pics. More on my web site.
