That's an interesting pillbox there, strange to see the large embrasure. Maybe a vickers mg or small anti tank gun?
The square concrete blocks, theyre smallanti tank blocks but the circular ones are spigot mortar mounts. Seems like a cool site.

Excellent find! it is really weird how sometimes when we go out to look at one Location and then find something else nearby.:)

i really don't know anything about ww2 stuff although i do find it very interesting & you hardly ever have to trespass to have a looksy.i've been informed that there are a few more around this area so i'll go back soon & have a look round see what i can find.(i have to depend on my girlfriend as i don't drive myself lol)

i've found a few bit's & bob's whilst out walking with my girlfriend & her dog but unfortunatly she's not into urbex at all!

Great find.
The cylider in your first pics is a base for a spigot mortar (type of anti tank gun)

The pillbox is a variant of a type 28 which would have housed an anti tank gun. In the embrasure you can see a lump of concrete with some bolts in ,these would have secured a 6pdr gun.The blocks of concrete are anti tank blocks.

I presume this is near a river or railway ?

Exellent find.

Very nice find, dj. I've seen that viaduct before...on DeviantArt, I think...but didn't know about the WW2 remains.

thank's for your comment foxylady!!like i said me & my girlfriend often walk her dog round field's/wood's & come across alsort's.was recently walking on an old airfield where i thought there was nothing, just the old runway that is used as a public road.but came across some kind of building.unfortunalty it's rite opposite a farm house & the owner's were woundering around but i will return marty

Very nice,

I would love to know where the viaduct was.

With pillbox, spigot mortar and cubes, would love to see how they fit into the terrain.

I'd guess at the railway viaduct near Wakes Colne and protectecting Colchester Road (A1124)..........

Pillboxes, anti-tank ditch, spigot mortar emplacements, cubes, cylinders

Top four are pillboxes in the railway sidings
