Not sure if this one has been covered on here before.

I'd heard a rumour about this a few years back but couldn't find out anything about it.

Then one day I saw this;

So since it was such a nice morning, I thought I'd go up and take a look for myself.

Do those look like bullit holes to anyone?

This was the biggest building. Very secure even now. Possibly storage for ammo?

I think those wooden things were for storing shells.
Either that or a lot of french bread!

There are 4 of these buildings arranged in a circle.

So there you go. Don't know an aweful lot about it.

Perhaps someone on here will?

It's just off Brackenhirst Road near Glenmavis, Airdrie if you fancy a visit.

Cheers

Cheers Matt. Big long building is the control centre. Each of those little doocots in the gunpits are ready ammo lockers; sheels were stored ready for use- all they needed was the appropriate fuse inserted and set to the correct time before loading.

Nice one :)

That's in good nick, nice to see the racking and steelwork still extant.

Thanks for the tip-off Gordon. Didn't know about the Secret Scotland website. Now bookmarked! :)

So it looks as if this particular one didn't fire a shot in anger. Never mind.

Surprised at how many of these anti-aircraft sites there are out there though.

Cheers

Nice one. There's a very similair one, at Liberton in Edinburgh, right next to my TA centre.
Will do a report next time I arrive at TA early (which is never).

Nice one Matt I think the largest building is the generator house though
