Hi, this is my first posting with pictures, so be kind.

Nigg magazine is in the yard behind the Highlands Fabricators buildings already reported in other threads.http://www.derelictplaces.co.uk/main/showthread.php?t=12667&highlight=nigg
From the road it's a fairly feature less concrete lump with lightning rods(?). It conceals a rather tidy brick built building which looks as if it may be older than WWII. I believe there were torpedos mounted on Nigg pier and minefields in the Cromarty Firth during WWII

As seen from the road.

And now just through the door and to the right, the brick building within.

Murky interior shot. Lots of old filing cabinets etc.

Barred gate looking toward Highlands Fabricators.

Main door from Highlands Fabricators side showing rail tracks.

Bit of an odd structure. The pics have been mightily resized from my phone. Would bigger or smaller be better? Like I said, be kind.

Interesting place. I've not come across anything like that before, thanks for posting. Photo's are fine the size they are by the way

Hi Wuvwee

Nice post - thanks for the nod to my previous, very brief visit.

The site is huge and I'd love to get a better nosey at some time but it's just a bit too far from Skye to make it do-able without a bit of planning, etc.

Zymbob and Bryag have posted some great reports about the Nigg area.

Good luck with tracking down the other bits over that way.

That's a massive building.

As you say it looks pretty boring but behind that concrete frontage is a gorgeous but interesting brick building.

A good first post - keep them coming. :)

Nice :)

Did you get into the rest of this site?

There's cracking battery or two up the hill as well, and a beautifully preserved WW1 one on t'other Sutor

Still got it's 'dazzle' camo left :)

Thanks for the positive feedback. Hi Zimbob, yes I have visited the WWI magazine and gun emplacement at South Sutor and have almost exactly the same picture of the amazing camo paint. I do have pictures of both North and South but didn't want to duplicate reports already posted. Interesting how the earlier buildings always seem to be better built than the later ones. I have visited the Loth Chain Home site recently so I think that'll be next if it's not been covered already.

Ah cool - did you see the boars :icon_evil

Fire 'em up, always good to see different takes on these places, and there's loads of sites on here that have been covered many times :)

Loth is a grand site, I don't think it's on here.... And if you went in the summer you might have some 'interesting' beach pics :lol:

Ah yes, the boars... not really sure if they were friendly or not so never chanced my luck! The little ones are cute though.
The only thing on the beach at Loth was a nosey seal. ;)
Loth visit to follow, a second monitor might help. Pictures on one, post on the other. I'll see how it goes.

You need the services of a Boar-immune Bryag, for a modest sum of "some beans," to make sure it is safe to proceed. Zimbob and Wolfism got a freebie, just because I wanted to see it too. Well worth the effort I would say. Have you ever seen the film Razorback???? The thought of that kept us on our toes:lol:

He's away "exploring" the French riviera at the moment, isn't he? We'll maybe get a report out of him yet (my memoirs … How I Broke the Bank).

Good thread BTW, Wuvwee, and sorry for hijacking it!
