Hi All
Well this is the first in a series of post that record our 3 day trip back to Kent and Dover.

The First port of call was RAF Detling, opened in 1938 and closed in 1959 it was part of fighter command
attached to 11Grp. There are lots of pill boxes on site and the Battle HQ.

As you can see the Battle HQ is dry inside and still has some of the wood on the wall
of the PBX room.

This is the small toilet which still has the original green paint on the door frame

The next few pictures are of one of the many pill boxes on site, this one still has the mount for
a light anti aircraft gun in the center.

Great example of a Type 27 pilbox there. Could you PM me with the location of the Battle HQ as it's not listed in the Defence of Britain database?

Great stuff guys. First time I've seen a type 27 with the gun post still in place

Good shots Newage. Nice to see inside a B.H.Q for once. The ones at RAF Bodney and West Raynham are filled in and Inpenetrable with Brambles.
