Firstly I must say thanks to Newage by pointing out a couple of locations too me without which i'd have ended up wandering around the fields and woods of the white cliffs, all very nice but not quite what i went over for!
First we went to Drop Redoubt on western heights, I understand that its open and you can wander round inside but alas today it was shut, so we walked round the outside for a bit.
We then went up to a site a freind knew about by the coastguard station near the castle but unfortunately couldn't prise open the metal trapdoor so continued on to St Maragrets at Cliffe to search for the Z Rocket deep level shelter, I thought it would be hard to find but a quick look at google earth an a stroll along the cliff top and low an behold we find the hole, if anyone is planning on going down there its worth avoiding it if its wet coz it was hard enough climbing out on dry clay, also, stay away from the hole you can see daylight through, its a straight drop to the beach.
From there we headed back up to the area around South Foreland Lighthouse and found several of the buildings there, what I assume is a magazine of some sort and another DLS which some little chavvie has decided it would be fun to set light too.
After South Foreland we headed back through Dover towards Folkestone, Stopping at Lydden Spout where again we wandered around until we found a very small hole in the ground leading to another series of chambers under a gun emplacement. Also containing a whole lot of very spooky looking spiders!
From there I headed home, but stopped at Toot Rock at Pett level on the way back to the 'stings and found a bit I've never seen before there!
And then I went home and had a sandwich. It was nice
