Hi, some pics from the North Weald redoubt, I went today as the snow was still there, you may know this was a munitions store, dating from late 1800,s

The redoubt was a arms and munitions storage facility rather than a factory, the delapidated biuldings out front are from when it was a transmitter station later in its life, in the fields opposite you can see the large concrete stays wich held wires to keep the masts up, I think BT had the run of the place at one point wich is where the ceramics probably came from, theres a second alan williams by the bridge.

Lovely pics! Some more information for thems that are interested....

The original buildings at North Weald (some of which you can see here) were part of the Victorian Mobilisation centres. Not strictly forts in the true sense of the word, they would be used to store weapons and munitions in case of invasion by the French. They would be unmanned, except for a fort keeper who would live in a cottage nearby. North Weald is unique, in that it is the only mobilisation fort north of the river Thames. The restored mobilisation fort at Reigate (which I took some admittedly not very good photos of last year) gives some idea of what it would have looked like.
