I had originally set out to find a pillbox I seen from a boat but the day turned out to be much more interesting. Visited with Dumptyboy.

After finding Clambering down to the pillbox avoiding the ladder, there seemed to be a trench cut out in the ground. We followed it and it turned up some interesting finds. Not much can be found about the site apart from on the DOB it says searchilight emplacement. to me there seems to be a bit more. On with the pics.

Apart from a small pillbox linked to it there was nothing of interest defence wise. Looking at the bases I can only assume it house motors or generators.

North Hill searchlight emplacement, Angle, Pembrokeshire

This emplacement is situated within a short distance of Chapel bay fort, in a secluded area overlooking the Milford Haven waterway. The Pembrokeshire coastal path runs within meters of this piece of military history, but you would never realise it was there unless you walk off the beaten track!
If you look out to sea, you will have a great view of Stack rock fort, right in the middle of the waterway just opposite. The surrounding area is full of military history and has many hidden secrets still to be recorded.
Luckily the weather today was reasonably good and the sun was shinning, and being this close to the coast is a great feeling with the sun beaming down on you, especially when you find a sweet explore like this.

Great pics, chaps. :)
I'm absolutely amazed by that popeye grafitti; someone from my home town (Stirling) wrote their name above it in 1941. Pity I couldn't see the name.

Cheers Historian. This is the only other pic i have which is to the left of the other graffiti:

I will make a point of going back to check out the name, unless Walsh has a better pick.

Thanks mate.;)

Also can anyone help with sheding abit more light on what this place was? Its obviously an emplacement in part, but it looks like it had another use due to the large generator rooms that we found. What else did they supply power too? Stack rock fort possibly.......... There is no information that i can find anywhere on the internet.Any help/research appreciated. Many thanks.

;)
