If you click on the link there are the tower photos.I am new to all this computer stuff,so all apologies for seeming a fool.I will live and learn,I hope.

Fixed for you mate. You started off OK, then ended up mixing your tags.

Just make sure your post has your pic links start with
. It's just being careful is all. You'll get used to it. :)

It would be good if you could expand on your description too. A little history wouldn't go amiss either. ;)

Thanks Seahorse.
Wikipedia gives a far more in depth description than I could do justice to the airfields short life as a 2nd World War airbase.
There is quite a bit more to see than is shown in my rather scant photos, there are no access problems as public roads run throughout the whole area.It is very close to Brown Willy which is Cornwalls highest piont and would make for a good day out for anybody staying in the area.Be careful not to drive down the main runway as I did,as it is now used by light aircraft.
Wikipedia link is..

There is also the the Davidstowe airfield and Cornwall at war museum nearby which I only found out about having got back to Newquay, links to the museum are...

All in all it is a great place to visit encompasing both 2nd World War memrabilia and some great lonely moorland vistas.
Here's the view from the highest piont in Cornwall.

Lovely,if bleak location.Thanx for sharing it with us.!!!Wonder if i can talk the missus into a short summer break !!!!!!

This is one of my favourite places of all time. It is one of the highest airfields in the UK at roughly 1000 feet and as such flying used to be often curtailed by low cloud and sea mist. This was a RAF Coastal Command airfield and aircraft such as Warwicks, Whitleys and Beaufighters flew from here on anti-submarine and search and rescue missions. There is a superb new book charting the history of the airfield that can be obtained from the Boscastle or Tintagel visitors centre. It is nice to see that flying continues here with light aircraft and microlights often being seen in the circuit.

One of the things I love about derelict airfields, is how windswept and lonely they are...very different to how they would have been back then. This one's even better! I love that barreness about it. Some good remains by the look of it, too. :)
