This is located just outside Kirkby to be honest....There are 9 main buildings with smaller buildings dotted around, they are connected by concrete roads.

All the buildings basically look the same, sadly there isnt much left:(.

The ammunition bunker held two functional requirements; to protect the ammunition from outside attack, but equally to protect the base itself from the forces of the potentially volatile weapons. For this reason a secondary blast wall was built to contain any explosions from escaping and damaging other buildings.

Used briefly during WWII for the storage of bombs and artillery, the bunkers have found uses today as wine cellars or chemical storage for industry.

Nice shots there fella, :) they are quite similar to Dutton on the hill ROF, the ones at the side of the M56 by Helsby, which now are being used as farm buildings.
