WW1 and 2 base and post war jet fighter station. It closed around 1960 and became an army base and then sold to the local council and is home to the largest market in the south east A lot has probably been said about this place but I did once get escorted acess to the tower and checked out some out buildings back in 2003/4. There are hangers with Battle of Britain era bullet holes in them!. There are a number of pillboxes and other buildings still around. Some are owned and used by buisnesses. There is local flying and plane restoration as well.

Dispersal

- used to be an acrobatic outfit at this place, had their hq in the old dispersal building...dunno if still do. And in one hanger was an old Dakota belonging to one of the Pink Floyd. Was used quite a bit for motorbike piss ups.:)
