When I visited a few years ago the american bit was still open part time. The main runway has gone but many buildings and hangers. The SHQ was used by cattle! I saw sheep and cows wandering inside the building. In 2003 the whole site was up for sale for redevelopment.

If you go, stay well out of the way of the RAF Upwood Clinic next door.

But it's a top site!

All the best,
Simon

Simon, i think the clinic is now derelict,BTW,i used to work in NHS estates as a Electrician/boilerman and worked on Air Con Plant.
SO Why the FOCK has the small pissy 12,000 Square foot building got a ACU plant for a big fuck off Tesco Warehouse.Expalin please.....When it was running you could hear it half way across the Airfield, Very strange, unless the site somehow morphs into 100,000 Square feet UNDERGROUND.

I used to live near RAF Upwood and could drive past every day. The last time was probably seven or eight months ago, so I'm not sure what the situation there is now. I'll have to check it out.

The "Clinic" is a very odd place: lots of razor wire, lots of CCTV, telecomms on the roof, armed guard on the gates, and very twitchy if people are seen on the old RAF Upwood airfield. I agree that it's an odd place.

All the best,
Simon
