    Default Fuel Depot

I have been visiting this site over the past few months, and actually managed to get in to the site a few days ago. There is no info about this place on the net, other than the fact that it has a planning order for residential/work units on it.

Unsure of Big hangar type building, but building in foreground that looks like a sunken house has a ladder leading from the doorway on the left. Inside it there are large pipes below ground level leading off in all directions.

Not sure what this was used for either

Yes you're right there really is no information about this place
on the net, I spent a couple of hours trying to find out more
about this place this afternoon and drew a total blank.

It looks WW2, that cheap red brick gives the game away and
the rusty metal doors in your last pic look very similar to
doors I've seen at some of Bristol's WW2 fuel depots such
    as the massive Hallen site.

Pluto is a WW2 pipeline system (Pipeline Under The Ocean) I
did wonder if it was part of that network but I've found no
    info to back that up.

It might not be a military pipeline? Could have been constructed
by the Ministry of Fuel and Power just after the war?

At one time there were a series of semi protected brick hangar-like buildings constructed around the country for holding stockpiles of National Grid materials for emergency repair in the event of war - could this be something to do with it? One of these depots still stands at Cirencester apparently.

Rumour has it that this was the US HQ during WW11
When you consider its location, close to the departure point for the US forces going to Normandy, it's quite believable.

Photo shows fuel tank at the bottom, above that the building with pipes coming out, above that the Hangar and above that the red brick building.
There is a grey concrete building next to the building with the pipes that I need to get into to confirm a few things.

about 5-10 mins along the coastal path, on the left past Mashfords boatyard, look for the obelisk on the left, and it's a couple of minutes from there.

About us
DerelictPlaces is a forum for people with an interest in the history and documentation of disused, derelict and abandoned buildings to come together and share their experiences, photography and historical findings. Our military, industrial and historical heritage is fast disappearing under the pressure of regeneration, the need for new housing, and often through simple neglect; Our aim is to document these places before they disappear entirely.
