I don't know much about the airfield history except that it started out as WWI naval landing site called Wellingore Heath. Re-opened in 1935 it was used by the RAF as a relief landing groud (RLG) for RAF Cranwell and then as a satelite airfield under the control of RAF Digby. My visit was to re-photograph the battle headquarters as I was passing nearby.

For pillbox lovers there are quite a few, four of which I'll include here (all were recorded for the DoB project). There are also a couple of fighter pens with loopholed defence walls but my day was too full to take time out for those.
