The East Wear Battery aka The Forbidden City was a gun battery to the east of the Verne Citadel on the Isle of Portland in Dorset, England. The battery was built in the 1860s as a result of the Royal Commission to guard the new Portland harbour and Royal Navy institutions on the island.

I visited pre and post Olympics and here are some of my pictures:

Very nice indeed, been to the high angle battery several times, next time need to venture a little further afield and find this place
 
There was an airsoft group in here until last year sometime, shame as they have caused quite a bit of damage and mess (white bb's everywhere) but atleast its left alone now.

Nice one on the old pictures to, good to see some of how it used to be.
