Nope I've known of them for years but ive never been there. Oddly I was reasrching a filmaker who had used them them as part of a art film, (Tacita Dean - Sound Mirrors 1999) So that might be worth a watch if It can be found online. Theres some stuff about it on the tate modern site here: http://www.tate.org.uk/britain/exhibitions/tacitadean/mirrors.htm

hello everyone went down to the sound mirrors with bob4130 and ching chong on friday had good morning down there i suggest taking a inflatable dingey like we did as the water is the only real major obstacle your come across

Wow! they are really cool! where abouts in Kent are they?

Excellent! Was reading a bit more about these fellas just the other day and it's really nice to see more pics. And, yeah, the bike made me chuckle. :D
Cheers

Just a thought...

I wonder if, in a few hundred years whether people will find them and be baffled as to there use and hail them as the new Stone Henge...

Just a thought.:)

Great pictures by the way, how did you get the BMX in a dingy?

 Right on dude! I often have a similar thought about some of the new buildings springing up (assuming they last for that long!).
I'm guessing that there was no need to take the bmx in the dingy, as bicycle tyres are "inflatable" too;)

Great pictures chaps -thanks for sharing -looks like a nice location too.

well i went across first with a piece off rope tied in the midde to the oar hole thing. so once i was across the one man dingy or should i say boy (as the dingy is a £10 one from a sea side shop) could be pulled back. we layed the bmx across the top of the dingy and pulled it across hoping it would'nt fall in haha everything went to plan! :D

I thoroughly recommend the book "echoes from the sky". Great history of the whole subject of acoustic aircraft detection and has some superb photos of these structures as well as the other mirrors around the coast. I have a pic of me in the late 70's standing on the 30ft mirror where they are bmxing in the photos above. I'll dig it out and scan it in.
I can feel another trip coming on if anyones interested.
