My phone went off at 1pm today with two old mates on the other end who were out and about in the local area, and me, stuck for something to do decided to go and meet them....and what a good choice that was.

I first explored this place a couple of years ago, when everything was sealed up tighter than the nun's proverbial. But now the land has been sold and decontamination and demolition are on the horizon, so workers have been in and handily opened up a large portion of it

It has been unused since 1994 but was on standby for use until a few years back, last May the government announced plans to sell off GPSS (Government Pipelines & Storage System) sites and this was one of them, and with it it turned a fairly uninteresting explore back in 2011 into something really rather good in 2013! After nearly being rumbled by a farmer who drove a tractor onto the site to feed the free-roaming security sheep (how he didn't see us running across the open ground I'll never know!) early on in the explore it was a great last-minute explore and good to get out again, so here are some photos...

be prepared for masses of pipe porn goodness :)

Thanks for looking, more here http://www.flickr.com/photos/mookie427/sets/72157633162430905/ :)

doesn't look as exciting up top than I was hoping for but nice pipeage (fuck me, pipeage is a real word!! hahahaha) down below.

Did you have a foam party?

Yeah there's not a huge amount of interesting features above the ground and it's a shame the largest of the buildings which adjoins the large generator/pump room is still sealed but you never know....one day it may become open!

Foam party was tempting I must admit
