Hi all i was up near binbrook the other day in swinhope and came across this at the side of the road. It's not on the binbrook camp but as far as i can find out so far it was a part of it. So far i have been told it was a remote whatzit or a radio something but i have no idea what it was.

Any ideas anyone?:)

Someone must know..:)

Hi Magoo
It reminded me of somewhere else Id seen and was checking it out on Sub-brit when I came across this.

Apparently Binbrook was part of an experimental radio wave carrier called Ace High. I reckon this could be it. Hope it helps (takes a bit of trawling through, though!)

Like your photos, by the way.

Cheers
Foxy :)

Thanks for that foxy! another clue as to what it may be perhaps.:)

And yes king Al it was all empty inside but there was lots of cables running through it at one time by the look of the floor.

Thanks for all the replies:)

On top of the roof on the 1st pic there's something sticking out, could you post a bigger photo of this?

Give me a few days and i will get a better shot of it for you. I seem to remember there was a big radio mast coming from the roof so it may be that.

Hi HF
Thanks for the correction on that. I saw Binbrook on the map, read through as much as I could in the short space of time I had right then, and as Magoo mentioned a 'radio something', put two and two together. I must be bad at maths!!! :D

Cheers

Anybody? :)

Hi Magoo
I've heard of these babies before, but after googling and trawling through several websites and their links for the past couple of hours I can't find any reference to them at all.
I'm not complaining, mind, as I came across loads of interesting sites including lots of stuff about radar (feel a new obsession coming on :D). Oh, and in the WW2 Airfields site there's a link to one dedicated to Lincs airfields you might be interested in.
Sorry I couldn't help further but will keep on digging.

Cheers

Thanks foxy! I did some more interrogating at the local pub and it was definitly to do with radio/radar and it may have even been classified. The woman behind the bar said there is a bloke who knows exactly what it was but he was not in last night:( She is going to ask him for me and jot it down on paper wich i thought was very cool of her indeed:) so watch this space for more info.

For now i have called it a remote listening post on my site as that phrase keeps popping up whenever i ask about it.
