Raf watton was built in the late 1930s for raf bomber command.in 1943 it was transferred to the American airforce.the airfield was handed back to raf control in 1945,and was used by the raf signals.in the 1970s the aircraft was replaced for technology.a matelo system of hf communication was introduced.in the 19990s the camp was used by the STANTA training ground to house troops.the site was put up for sale in 1995 and most of it has been demolished.i visited the remaing bomb stores hidden in the far corner of the airfield.dont know how much longer these will be standing for now.
