A spot that I've been wanting to do for a long time now: the remains of a 2x15" naval gun battery, along with a flanking anti-aircraft site. I've mostly covered the AA site on this visit. Visited within a very limited time span and I had to pop off a lot of photos on auto. I honestly thought this place would be smaller and easier to get around, but it's like an overgrown labyrinth in there! Definitely going back to see some bits I missed at a later date. The weather was something like what I think the Scots call dreich, a sort of misty drizzle that permeates everything and it was seriously messing with my lens. I ended up soaking my trousers, wading through the long grass and drove home in my boxers for all the old ladies on the buses to see :D

Remains of the perimeter fencing.

First building I came across. It was a large space, with windows on one side and loop holes on the other.

Found these on the window seal. A torch, a small screwdriver and some books. They were new and the damp hadn't yet gotten to them. Looks like maybe someone was spending a bit of time there.

Part of the remnants of the 15" battery. A guardhouse or something similar. Total door porn!

A sign of good things to come!

Inside, one of the most awesome magazines I've ever seen! I was really starting to feel in my element here. Trolleys would have shuttled the huge shells along a concrete path to the gun from these areas.

The box shaped parts that you see are these small enclosures.

Soggy, but well worth it! That's all for now, folks! Stay tuned for more on this one!

Thanks for looking.

Looks alright this, looks very hidden too. And the lack of graff probably means it is. Thanks for sharing

Is this Wanstone farm battery?

Cheers newage

I very much hope there is Graff in there, we found loads of graff from the time it was active, hope its not all been lost.

Nice shots, looks an interesting place. Good to see the graffiti gremlins have not gotten their hands on it :)
