I first visited RAF Davidstow Moor around 1982 and have always been fascinated by this old airfield, along whose runways and taxiways one can drive. Though since my first visit they have become increasingly worn.
Realising I had not photographed the site with a digital camera I paid a visit on May 28 and spent a good three hours mooching round the airfield and also one of the two adjacent museums.
Unfortunately I needed to move on and could only visit one of the museums and only cover part of the airfield.
I hope to return when I am next in the area in October.
Anyway a selection of views:
An M&E Plinth which housed electrical equipment:
The fuel depot:
The airfield isn;t quite dead yet .....
Runway 24
The Watch Office (Control Tower)
Runway 20
Blast Shelter
Drying Building
The Flying Club
Old wind indicator
