Raf west raynham revisit

well I was feeling a bit bored and I was wondering what to do.so I decided I would take a drive to west raynham..I went here a while back and really enjoyed it.and I was not happy with my shots from the first visit..so off I trot for a nice relaxing solo wander..the decay in the restraunt and officers block is beautiful.and no vandalism in sight..

As per your usual, good shots. Pity nature is trying to take over some of the rooms but the buildings themselves are in good condition, soap and water, good sponge and a brush and paint.

Wowo loads of bits there I hadn't seen posted before! That place does look ridiculously like Upwood tho!

It's strange because I go to upwood I think this is like Raynham but totally trashed.

Well Raynham and Upwood were built at the same time to identical building designs and specs...

I think looking at old photos there where quite a few airfields built with a similar design.just variants on layout.but the main buildings are standard design.raf watton has similar buildings too..but demolished or in use.but upwood and raynham are almost identical in different states..i guess the new buildings were a luxury compared to what they had before they were built.some of the officers buildings must have been quite grand though.but I know in norfolk the Americans took over a lot of the manor houses as officers mess.and I am guessing it was the same over most of East anglia.
