Hello

well my first post!!!

I have known about these houses for some time now and i have waited for them to come avalable and now they have so me and the boss went for a look. I must add that we where very intrested in purchasing a house on the complex but due to there high prices we decied not to (for the same price you can get a mutch bigger house in nearbuy fakenham) The deal is very expensive to be honist and the houses are not in the best condition even after there improvements, and the management charge plus council tax means you would be looking at a bill of 1800 per year!!!!. They are also not to sure (well not saying to mutch) about the possible, to use the guides words "infill houses" so all the open play areas/fields will probably be built on!!! great lets pay top wack for a house in the middle of nowhere and live on a building site!!! (me being sarcastic).

The gent did take us around the officers quaters (in my car) and again this has got loads of potential but the prices are going to be be top wack and again there are going to be "Infill houses" so with no firm plan and so mutch uncertainty we have decied not to bother - and from what the "guide" said and reading between the lines i think that responce has not been great so far!! they have only sold 6 houses and thay have been on the market for three months now!!

I have got some photos of the officers patch i will upload in the few days!!

Ps i hope the photos attach - its my first time be gentle!

Hi fatcodycat

Interesting report...rather eerie seeing all those empty houses on the site.
Some of them look as if they've had the front gardens ripped out with all that bare earth, which is quite strange.
Look forward to seeing your other pics.

Welcome to the forum, btw. :)

Nice first post, A little wide;) these un enhabeted houses do look a little eerie, I agree about the cost it does seem a little steep, I wouldn't want to be the first to move in that would be a bit strange:exclaim:, although one of the best excuses for exploring "I live here"

Cool shots. My mate was a snowdrop at West Raynham. It was a missile base for the last years of its national service, with a squadron of Bloodhounds based there.
When I was an air cadet, we did a night exercise on RAF Lindholme in 1984. It finished up in the accomodation blocks, in the middle of the night and it was well spooky but it looked a bit like this!

Yeh, sorry. Im used to being on aviation forums where people kinda know the lingo!!!

Airfields are my favourite places to explore. Its sad having no-one else to go exploring them with.
Not that its just airfields the RAF have/had. We did another exercise at Bawtry in 1988 with the Marines. Bawtry Hall was Bomber Command HQ during WW2, now, it was dark and we didnt see the manor but there were some cool buildings about. The best for me being a cafeteria just inside the gates full of old 70s coke/pepsi/7up signs and decadent 70s cafe interior. It had been shut for a few years aby then but it was like looking in on 1973.
After sterling war work, Bawtry Hall is now a christian resource/conference centre.

Airfields are places I haven't explored yet but I've been totally fascinated by reports and pics of them, from WW2 up to the present day. WW2 defence buildings are among my favourite research & explores and I've got RAF Dunkeswell and RAF Upottery on my to do list. They aren't all that far from me but I don't drive, so it means a two-bus journey!
Have you seen the archived military section here yet? Some excellent airfield explores including the ones mentioned above. :)

It's mad walking down a desert street like at RAF Raynham, some of those officer's houses are massive. The airbase itself has recently been a little more secured, when we were there security were nailing it around in a fiesta most of the day. Even had to avoid a group of suits and security with thier dog. Never spent so much time hiding than when I went there. It's all good fun. ;)
