    Default RAF wittering bomb stores

After seeing the great report from urban x..I thought I would go and give these bomb stores a look.they have been out of use for several years now.the place is heavy in graffiti.its a fairly large site with varying stores and buildings.you could still see the loading rails in some.the nuke stores in the far corner are well locked up.it was an enjoyable few hours wander around here..

    Danger..no entry.

    Surveying the scene..

This isn't a criticism, just a bit of constructive feedback, but these images are a bit too flat and low contrast for my eyes to make sense of them without a lot of effort. Not everyone sees the same thing.

Cool post, having a read online apparently Britain's first operational atomic weapon was stored here in 1953!

That's a nice take on the place...gives it an other worldly feel.

Nice take on the place. Storing Britain's first atomic weapon is quite a claim to fame!

It's a great site for a wander and monochrome suits it.
To each his own but I don't like the processing of these - they are soft and flat...it's like looking at a dusty monitor.

More contrast and lose the strange softness and you'd have some quite punchy images.

About us
DerelictPlaces is a forum for people with an interest in the history and documentation of disused, derelict and abandoned buildings to come together and share their experiences, photography and historical findings. Our military, industrial and historical heritage is fast disappearing under the pressure of regeneration, the need for new housing, and often through simple neglect; Our aim is to document these places before they disappear entirely.
