    Default RAF Rivenhall May 2017

I recently read this place is being demolished to make way for a quarry so I decided to give RAF Rivenhall a gander before its gone forever. As I expected there really wasn't too much left, most of the buildings have been torn down and the radar tower was swarming with quarry workers so I decided not to venture to see It up close. Nonetheless It was still really cool seeing this place in person.
History wise, this place was built in 1943 and was used in the European theatre of war until 1946. It was released from the military in 1956 then leased to the Marconi company who had taken over all the buildings within ten years. Anyways here's some pictures of my exploration!

    Hey,

Wicked shots my friend! Just a tip, you ventured to the wrong side! It took me 3 trips to figure it out myself. There's still so many buildings and nissen huts surviving :)

Try looking for what after the war was known as the Polish Camp....its now mainly light industry but worth a look around.

I need to pay yet another visit as I didnt realise one of the hangers was still standing.

About us
DerelictPlaces is a forum for people with an interest in the history and documentation of disused, derelict and abandoned buildings to come together and share their experiences, photography and historical findings. Our military, industrial and historical heritage is fast disappearing under the pressure of regeneration, the need for new housing, and often through simple neglect; Our aim is to document these places before they disappear entirely.
