Today was a bit of a disaster so far as my plans went, I had a long ride on the bike planned but 15m in "bang" my derailleur hanger snapped leaving me with a tedious journey home with a botched repair!
Hey Ho what to do with the rest of the day? Well I went for a walk.
A "walk" not an explore but decided to take a closer look round Deansthorpe where I had pretty much ended my ride earlier. I noticed there are a lot of buildings still standing here but cant find any reports so wasn't expecting much.
A quick bit of research before assured me the ROC was closed tight with concrete blocks on top so I was excited to find it completely open!
Not a lot in there tbh but its in excellent condition. Most the ceiling tiles are still in place. there is very little graffiti & the paintwork on the cupboards is like new. I hope it stays like it!

The WW2 stuff is all pretty empty too as expected (apart from a few startled sheep & some farm equipment) but there is quite a few Nissen huts & various size & shape brick buildings which Im sure someone can tell me what they all were?
There was a rather nice old bulldozer tucked away too which interested me/
The full history is here, but hope u find this a bit interesting.

I'll pass on the low calorie lemon drink. Nice photographs and a good few nissen huts that are still surviving and being put to other uses.

The ROC post looks half decent compared to some of the burnt out ones i've seen. Looks to be a nice mooch above ground too. Cheers.

I was surprised, the ROC post register shows this covered with concrete block & states no access, There was no sign of the blocks at all now & I assume because of this very few people have bothered trying to get in!

The ROC Post has been open since about 2009, it used to be in a lot better condition. The site might be lost under new housing very soon :(

Yeah read about the 'garden village' wasn't sure it was going ahead or not. Thought they still flew from there tbh
