How do all

Road trip time, me and Fluffy set our sights on Yorkshire, this was our 3 site of the day after butting heads with some locals at the other two sites (We where beginning to think "F*** Yorkshire lets go back to England") but a bit of walking to the middle of know where paid off.

This is Sunk Island WW1 battery (It was an island a few hundreds years ago), work began in 1914 and the battery was used to house two 6" BL guns, after WW1 the battery was abandoned only to be reused in WW2, two 4.7" guns were remounted on to the towers and 1 small pill box was added to the site, also added to the site in WW2 was an under water mine control tower called an XDO post - which has been partly demolished.

Concrete picture porn time.

And lastly is the mine control tower called an XDO post, pity its been demolished as there are very few of these left standing in the UK.

If Yorkshire isn't in England and where I live, Northumberland, isn't in Scotland. Where am I?! Hungover for starters..

Interesting little position that. The angles had me confused for a bit.
Is the battery far from the sea? What did it primarily defend??
I can see similarities with Roberts Battery up this was and their similar use of whatever was to hand during construction.
Still has features such as an engine bed too.
