Noticed there was no pictures up of Grain battery tower. Visited here with Manica about 2 months ago (sorry can't remember the date) when we got there we had to wait for the tide to go out only took about 30minutes. After the tide went out we then noticed how far it was. I forgot to take wellys so I got muddy wearing my trainers. There are more pictures on my site. Was a good explore lots to see, hope you enjoy the pictures.

Come on, get my name right :lol:

It was end of March we were there, so not as long as you think! We were lucky with the tide, it was just going out when we arrived. So while we waited, we went for a walk to see if we could find the remains of Grain Fort, which was, as we expected, buried :rolleyes: and we checked out the dummy battery as well, which was, well an empty concrete shell.

This place is empty, but it's worth a look owing to it's uniqueness. Here's a couple of my pics from the day;

The shell lifting gear is still in place, here's the top. . . .

It was nice and sunny when we started walking out there, within half an hour of getting there the weather had turned and it was blowing a gale and lashing down with rain, but we had no choise but to leave and walk the half mile back to shore, as the tide was coming in, bugger!
